Student Evaluation of Instruction (SEI)

The West Virginia University Student Evaluation of Instruction (SEI) project is a state-of-the-art, database driven web tool used by the Colleges and Schools on campus to develop a custom printed form to measure student satisfaction and solicit feedback in regard to the quality of instruction.

The data collected using this form is then processed using a high volume optical mark reader which converts the data into a digital format. This information is imported into a database which also holds data from several previous semesters. Using an advanced statistical program developed exclusively for this process, the database automatically creates electronic reports which include the student's responses for the current semester and a comparison of the current semester results to those in the instructor's college and the entire university.

The technology portion of this project is managed by Academic Information Services, which is part of the OIT Support Services department. This semester 102,339 custom forms have been printed. There are currently 0 forms in the queue that need printed. We expect approximately 80,000 forms in a typical semester. We expect approximately 13,000 forms for summer semesters.
  • DEADLINE for requesting Spring 2007 orders: April 30, 2007

eSEI Tutorials

The following tutorials are to assist you in using the online version of the SEIs (eSEI). These are the same tutorials followed by eCampus users in Fall 2006. These tutorials will be updated later in Spring 2007 to reflect new features of the eSEIs. In the interim the only change to be noted is that all faculty and students may log in to the online eSEIs using their MIX Id and can access the online eSEIs outside of eCampus. To access the online eSEIs please use the following link: https://esei.wvu.edu/esei
